This week: What happens when great educators take notice of Bitcoin? How are people going to utilise censorship resistant social networks? Why is it important people with large audiences speak out?
The Immaculate Conception
What happens when great educators take notice of Bitcoin?
There’s too much information in this 2 hour long conversation to analyse in this short newsletter, but safe to say, this is an essential watch for every Bitcoiner. Saifedean Ammous does a wonderful job of explaining the value proposition of Bitcoin, whilst Jordan Peterson asks plenty of insightful questions, which together create a compelling conversation you don’t want to miss.
I particularly liked the invention of Bitcoin being described as “the immaculate conception”, apt recognition of how fairytale a story it is, whilst highlighting the sheer genius of whomever the inventor was. No it was not created by the ‘deep state’, or some other nefarious authoritarian entity, but a true libertarian with an extraordinary grasp of the necessary knowledge.
With great educators such as these two academics engaging in open dialogue, the Bitcoin network will without doubt become easier to comprehend for many, which can only increase the long term value proposition. I look forward to consuming more of their content in the future, as it helps to solidify my own understanding, which is the basis of my long-term financial freedom strategy.
Communication On Bitcoin
How are people going to utilise censorship resistant social networks?
Listening to Justin Rezvani talk about building Zion with Marty Bent was nothing but inspirational. As someone who spent years in the startup space, I know how hard it is to build companies, so I have the utmost respect for those that choose such a perilous task; all the more incredible given his recent near death experience.
Critically however, I see a world in which digital monopolies have become far too powerful, able and willing to mold society around us to the highest bidder. Freedom of speech has been jettisoned, in favour of manipulative agenda’s, a far cry from the founding vision of liberal democracy.
Personally I welcome a world in which people leverage the worlds first incorruptible decentralised monetary network, to create communication tools that do not discriminate, allowing participants far more control of their data and audiences. As Justin says: “Imagine facebook but you could just leave…?” A vision akin to digital mecca for many, reflected by the impressive early user growth, so without doubt a development to keep an eye on.
Cantillon Effect Popularised
Why is it important people with large audiences speak out?
It always excites me when people with large audiences highlight problems that relate to Bitcoin, and this tweet from Sahil Bloom was no different, diving head first into the Cantillon effect. With a nice historical framing, and two simple economic examples, he details clearly how favourable a seat closest to the money printer can be.
Through storytelling like this, more people are introduced to the hard facts of todays modern economy, and left under no illusion as to the gross inequality of our financial system. They start to ask important questions: What is inflation? Why are my savings losing value? How can I protect myself?
As a Bitcoiner, I argue, that all roads lead to Bitcoin. Indeed, protection of wealth against inflation was the main problem I had spent a decade trying to solve, leading me to the asset myself. Surely Sahil is a Bitcoiner… I wonder how many of his followers are now as well?
